Today, I was thinking about the guilt that comes with breaking the personal fast, and I realized that the shame we often feel when we “fail” during Lent is not from God. In fact, I think it’s a tactic the devil uses to distract us from growing in holiness and dependence on Him. The devil doesn’t want us to accept our weakness. He doesn’t want us to recognize that we are dependent on the grace of God to do what is right, and true, and holy. He wants us puffed up with pride, ashamed when we fail—as if we can do all things hard on our own, and as if we have to earn God’s love. He wants us to feel like we’ve failed God when we mess up. He wants us to hide our faces from Him in shame. But God doesn’t want that. He wants us to see our “failures” as opportunities for growth. He wants us to lean into Him, to “fall into His loving hands,” to offer Him our weaknesses, and to seek His help. Don’t turn away from Him when you break your fast. Don’t give up just because you gave in. Lean into HIM. Fall into His holy, beautiful, loving hands and continue to make your life an offering. Fasting is not about proving your love to the Lord, but about emptying yourself of all the other things you love, in order to create room in your heart for Christ. . . . #catholic #christian #catholicfaith #catholicism #bissisterhood #jesus #prayer #catholicliving #catholicsisters #projectblessed #peaceinchrist #christianliving #jesuslovesyou #catholicism #catholicblogger #blogger #heartofchrist #holyspirit #catholicconnect #hope #lent #stjoseph #fasting #lentenfast #blessedisshe #findingphilothea
About last night: we danced (a lot), we swooned (JT forevah!), we ate a ton of pizza, we shopped, brunched, and had the best time in downtown KCMO. We also got numerous gasps when people found out we collectively have 8 kids, and that we we are in our thirties! (Still can’t believe we graduated college almost 10 years ago! 😮) Here’s to getting carded, and living the old college days again with my best friends! Love my BC roomies!❤️ #3bftach
That moment you realize he’s rocking the “ghost stash” again.🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ • Buble last night was incredible! Tonight...JT! Finally! Can’t wait to see my college roomies!!!
Saint Teresa of Avila said that we should go to St. Joseph as an intercessor because he has great power with God. The development of my relationship with this great Saint has been slow, but I am so ready to get to know him better. Joseph—the foster father of Jesus, and devoted husband of Mary—was a protector of the Holy Family. I can only imagine why God wants us to know him better! I envision him wanting so badly to build Jesus a crib, only to have to lead them on a harrowing journey to have him born safe—far from home—in a manger. I see him rocking and cradling Jesus as a baby, staring at Him in wonder of all God was accomplishing through this tiny, dependent child. I imagine him teaching the child Jesus to work with His hands, tucking Him in at night, and teaching Him to practice obedience. I envision him growing deeply in love with his Son, as he watched Him grow over the years. It was in God’s plan for Jesus to join us in our humanity in every way except sin, and as such, Jesus had the most blessed parents of all. My prayer is to grow closer to him, and I pray the same for all of us, so that St. Joseph might be for us as well a loving guide, caretaker, and intercessor as we make our journey of faith. Tell me, if you know him well...what do you love about him? 🙏🏼 Saint Joseph, pray for us! . . Also, special shoutout to my own Joseph! You’re the best husband and father to our kiddos—you’re more than I could’ve ever hoped for! Love you!
